🧠 Trivia Q&A

Question: Johnson City sits at the confluence of three forks of a major Appalachian river system. What is the name of the river that runs through Johnson City — and into which larger river does it eventually flow?

Answer: The Nolichucky River’s tributaries — including Brush Creek and Sinking Creek — flow through the Johnson City area, but the city itself drains primarily into the Watauga River system and the Nolichucky watershed. More specifically, Brush Creek flows through Johnson City and feeds into the Nolichucky River, which in turn flows into the French Broad River, eventually joining the Tennessee River.
