Kingsport Scoop – May 08, 2026

☀️ Today’s Weather

Foggy skies over the Model City today — expect a high of 70°F and a low of 45°F, with just a 1% chance of rain. A good day to get out once the fog lifts!

😄 Only in Kingsport

Kingsport is the kind of place where bomb techs, the FBI, the ATF, SWAT, drones, and a church that opens its doors at midnight all end up in the same news story — and by morning, everyone’s back home and saying thanks.

🧠 Trivia Q&A

Question: Kingsport is home to one of the most storied high school athletic programs in Tennessee — Dobyns-Bennett High School. What is the official nickname of the Dobyns-Bennett athletic teams, and what is the name of the famous fight song that has been played at their sporting events for generations?

Answer: The Dobyns-Bennett athletic teams are known as the Indians. Their beloved fight song is called “The Big Injun,” one of the most recognizable school fight songs in the Tri-Cities region and a staple of Dobyns-Bennett tradition for decades.
