Downtown Johnson City Post Office Moves to North Roan Street

A longstanding post office in downtown Johnson City has officially closed and moved retail operations into a new space on North Roan Street. The move was initially announced in 2023, when the City of Johnson City said it was not planning to renew its lease with the United States Postal Service at its East Main Street distribution center and retail storefront. The city moved its USPS distribution and collection center to the former Kennametal manufacturing facility on Roweland Drive and opened a USPS post office at a former CVS Pharmacy on North Roan Street, which is the back half of a 13,912-square-foot building.

Data Center Zoning Vote: Are 200 Feet Enough?

Johnson City’s planning commission is set to take its first vote on new rules for data centers.
