Kingsport Robbery Suspect Arrested, One Still Wanted
Kingsport police recently made an arrest in connection with an attempted robbery near the Gibson Mill Road traffic circle. Kingsport Police arrested one of two suspects accused in the attempted robbery — William Burk is being held on bond, while Justin Roberts remains at large. An off-duty Sullivan County deputy witnessed the two men, armed with a stick and a metal pipe, trying to rob another man near the Gibson Mill Road traffic circle. Police consider Roberts dangerous and ask anyone with information to call Central Dispatch.
Kingsport Music Club Celebrates 100th Anniversary
The Kingsport Music Club is marking a major milestone this year with its 100th anniversary. The Kingsport Music Club was founded September 18, 1927. According to the club’s constitution, the purposes of the club are to promote interest in and the study of music in the community, and to provide opportunities for the development of young musicians. The centennial celebration was recently highlighted on WJHL’s Daytime Tri-Cities program.
Dobyns-Bennett Band Marks 100th Anniversary
The Dobyns-Bennett High School Band is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, a milestone that coincides with another notable centennial. According to the Times-News, over the past century, nine directors have led the storied band program.
