TBI Investigating Two Unrelated Inmate Deaths at Sullivan County Jail

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating two inmates’ deaths at the Sullivan County Jail that are believed to be unrelated. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said the deaths appeared to be medical emergencies and that “no foul play is suspected.” The TBI said the bodies of both men were sent for an autopsy.

Kingsport Police Searching for Two Aggravated Robbery Suspects

Kingsport police are searching for two men accused of attempting to rob another man near a traffic circle, after an off-duty Sullivan County deputy witnessed the incident around 7:45 a.m. near Gibson Mill Road, East Ravine Road, and Watauga Street. Two men — one armed with a large stick, one with what appeared to be a metal pipe — attempted to rob another man, but the deputy intervened before anyone was injured. The suspects were identified as 35-year-old Justin Roberts and 26-year-old William Burk; warrants have been obtained charging both with aggravated robbery, and both are considered dangerous — anyone who sees them should call 911 and should not approach.
