Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide After Fatal Crash in Washington County

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with vehicular homicide by intoxication following a fatal crash on Highway 107 near Jackson Bridge. According to the WCSO, the suspect’s vehicle crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck a motorcycle head-on, killing the motorcyclist at the scene. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on the suspect’s release, and additional charges may be pending.

📜 Today in Johnson City History

Today in Johnson City History

One hundred and twenty-five years ago today in 1901, community news from Bowmantown in Washington County included a notable development in the local dog tax dispute: Judge Campbell had ruled that an owner wasn’t liable for the tax if their dog stayed on the premises. The Herald and Tribune reported that “this ruling has influenced many not to register their dogs” — with about 300 already registered and the trustee still counting.
