Ex-JCPD Officer Pleads Guilty in Body Camera Case
The case dates back to a 2024 police pursuit involving former Johnson City police officer Connor Cooper, who returned to Washington County Criminal Court and pleaded guilty to two felony charges as part of a plea agreement. Investigators said Cooper intentionally turned off his patrol car’s in-car video system and body camera, then instructed a trainee riding with him to turn off the trainee’s body camera in an effort to conceal or limit the video evidence. He was given one year of supervised probation, 40 hours of community service, and was granted judicial diversion, meaning he could eventually have the conviction erased.
