📜 Today in Johnson City History

Ninety years ago today in 1936, Johnson City businessman Hammond P. Prosser became separated from a fishing party in the Jonas Ridge wilderness of North Carolina and spent the entire night lost in the mountains, crossing Lone Cove Falls in the dark — a crossing few attempt in daylight. He was found the next morning by three fishermen, too weak to walk, and carried out on a stretcher by CCC boys before being brought home to his house on West Holston Avenue.
