WCSO Deputy Injured After Patrol Car Struck Near Johnson City

Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton reported that a WCSO deputy was taken to the hospital after his patrol car was struck by another vehicle. The deputy was directing traffic on North Roan Street when a vehicle reportedly struck the patrol car from behind. The deputy received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital, while two individuals in the striking vehicle were also transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

Early Morning House Fire on Rebeccas Lane

The Johnson City Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Rebeccas Lane early Sunday morning. Upon arrival, flames were visible from the roof of the home, though nobody was inside at the time of the fire. Two district chiefs, four engines, and two ladder trucks responded to the call, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

📜 Today in Johnson City History

A century ago today in 1926, a Johnson City man posing as a taxi driver picked up a young woman just off the train and tried to drive her away from her destination instead of her aunt’s house on King Springs Road. She jumped from the moving car at a curve, flagged down a passing farmer, and gave police the license plate number that led to the driver’s arrest within hours.
