📜 Today in Johnson City History

Ninety-five years ago today in 1931, word reached Johnson City that former Tennessee Governor Alf “Uncle Alf” Taylor, recovering near here from a kidney operation, had been given “a fighting chance to live” by his physician. The 83-year-old had taken his first nourishment since falling critically ill and had begun recognizing visiting relatives after a restful night.
