Music is a common ground for all kinds of folks, and that’s why The Down Home’s “come as you are” atmosphere has been a treasured place for so many people. Established in 1976 to provide an intimate listening room for a wide range of artists, from Townes Van Zandt to Willie Dixon, Doc Watson to Gillian Welch. We've had theater, political rallies, writer's series, poetry slams, and all night parties. Come as soon as the doors open and enjoy the ambience of a room surrounded in oak wood, paired with the best sound system in Johnson City. We've got a wide selection of beers, and a menu full of delicious items, so you won’t be hungry while you’re enjoying the music. Check out our website for upcoming shows - we hope to see you soon!

Over the years, the business has expanded from room to room, and the overabundance of blessings required the women to add on some extra help. That is why you will now see Amy, Kelly, Sherry, and Linda along side Cookie, all serving you at The Gift Box. You will receive complimentary gift bagging when you choose to shop with us.

Guests will not only enjoy private bathrooms, individual climate controls, free Wi-Fi, cable television, luxurious amenities, and a locally sourced a la carte breakfast; they will also enjoy the ambiance of the exquisite Victorian decor and architecture.

In the coming months we will be undergoing some construction to better accommodate our guests and neighbors. A beautiful new dining/meeting room will be a great addition to host an indoor event.
