🏘️ Brickyard Village Grand Opening Set for October 10

The former brick plant in Kingsport is being transformed into Brickyard Village and Park with new homes and spaces. The grand opening will be October 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Brickyard Park Drive. The development is expected to cost around $140 million to build out, with the first phase consisting of 32 single-family houses, along with proposed townhomes, more single-family units, and potentially apartments.

🏠 Kingsport Planning Commission to Consider New Housing Development

A new housing development is under construction near Bancroft Chapel Road in Kingsport. The development, called Bancroft Hills, will include 34 single-family units with a new road to access them and standard utilities. The submission has received positive recommendations from all city departments, and once approved, the developer will be able to sell lots and proceed with homebuilders to start construction.

🎓 Kingsport and ETSU Expand GEAR UP Partnership

Kingsport City Schools and East Tennessee State University are entering year two of their GEAR UP partnership, a program designed to help students prepare for life after high school. The program follows seventh and eighth graders through the next six years, connecting them with resources for college, trade certifications, or career training. Organizers say the goal is to help every student find a path they’re passionate about and build a plan to get there.

🚒 Firefighter Details I-26 Crash That Injured 4 First Responders

A Kingsport firefighter has spoken out about the crash on Interstate 26 that injured four first responders while they were working an earlier accident scene. The incident drew widespread attention to the dangers first responders face on Tennessee highways. All four injured members have since been released from the hospital.

🚗 Tree Fall Sends Pickup Truck Airborne Near Kingsport, 2 Injured

Two people were injured near Kingsport after a tree fell and sent a pickup truck airborne, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The incident prompted a THP response to the scene. Details on the conditions of those injured were not immediately available.
