Science Hill High School Dedicates New Microscope Lab

Science Hill High School held a dedication ceremony for its newly equipped microscope lab, funded by the Johnson City Public Schools Foundation. The lab features 25 college-grade microscopes, and teachers can now project microscope images onto a large screen so the entire class can view the same thing simultaneously. Funding came from a community spelling bee fundraiser called “Spellabration.”

📜 Today in Johnson City History

One hundred and twenty-five years ago today in 1901, construction superintendent S.A. Byrd moved his family from Jonesboro to Johnson City after purchasing a home here, drawn by his work overseeing construction at the National Home for veterans — one small sign of how the sprawling new project was pulling workers and families into the growing city.
