Kingsport BMA Gives Final Approval to Quarry Expansion Rezoning
The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a rezoning request that would allow for the expansion of a quarry near the Tri-Cities Airport, with the request passing on second reading in a 6–1 vote. Mayor Paul Montgomery cast the lone vote against it. The quarry is owned by Martin Marietta and is located off Airport Parkway, around 200 yards from Holston Elementary School — a proximity that has drawn concerns from some residents and school leaders about potential impacts on homes and the nearby school.

🧟 Smoky Mountain Terror 2026
August 28–30, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM | 1901 Meadowview Parkway, Kingsport, TN 37660
The 4th annual Smoky Mountain Terror event takes place August 28th through 30th at the Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport, TN.
