Washington County Moving Forward on Property Tax Freeze Program for Seniors

Washington County leaders are taking steps toward implementing a property tax freeze program for qualifying older homeowners. The state-run, locally-funded program would allow eligible residents who are 65 or older, own their primary residence, and meet income requirements to freeze their property tax bill — shielding them from future increases. The county commission is now moving toward a formal vote on whether to participate.
