Eastman Chemical Granted Two-Year EPA Exemption
Eastman Chemical Company’s Kingsport facility has been granted a temporary exemption from a federal EPA rule that limits toxic air emissions from petrochemical plants. The Trump Administration approved the exemption, giving Eastman until 2029 instead of 2027 to comply. Eastman officials say they need more time to obtain and install the equipment required to meet the standards. Environmental groups have sued the administration over similar exemptions granted to other facilities.
