📜 Today in Johnson City History
One hundred and twenty-five years ago today in 1901, the Herald and Tribune noted that General John T. Wilder — the industrialist who developed the Carnegie neighborhood of Johnson City, built the Cloudland Hotel on Roan Mountain, and promoted the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad — was ill at his sister’s home in Johnson City. His daughter Mary had come up from Knoxville to nurse him.
