Johnson City Proposes $37M Aquatic Center with Property Tax Hike

Johnson City Commissioners reached verbal consensus on a fiscal 2027 budget that includes funding for a new $37 million aquatic center and a 28-cent property tax increase. The aquatic center would be built in three phases, starting with an indoor competition-level pool, followed by an outdoor pool component, a splash pad, water slide area, and additional infrastructure. The budget, which begins July 1, must be approved on three readings, starting June 4.
