The Firehouse was originally opened in 1980 by Tom Seaton and Jimmy Carter as Bucwood Bar-B-Que.

The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees. Popular with the college crowd, the restaurant opened additional locations near Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Roanoke College. Locations were added at the rate of one or two per year, including those in neighboring West Virginia and North Carolina. Some Macado’s are located in malls, such as Mercer Mall in Bluefield, Grand Pavilion in Roanoke, and Concord Mills in North Carolina (near Lowe’s Motor Speedway). Other locations cater to the downtown business crowd, such as Farmville and Galax. Still independently-owned, Macado’s now operates restaurants in Central and Southwest Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and just recently opened its newest location in Bristol, Tennessee. The already-lengthy menu has been changed and expanded over the years, and several events have grown in popularity, such as the Macado’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party and the Macado’s Halloween Party. In 2008, Andreas Herholz and wife Michele embarked on a new adventure by establishing Freiberg’s German restaurant. Named after Andreas’s hometown of Freiberg, an 800 year old silver mining town in East Germany, Freiberg’s offers the upmost German experience and cuisine. From authentic German dishes and the refreshing beer imported straight from Germany, to the cozy, rustic interior, guests will get a taste of genuine German hospitality. All of Freiberg’s authentic German dishes are made from scratch. Some of the dishes takes hours to prepare and cook, if they should sell out of a particular dish, rest assured- they have a vast selection of menu options that are sure to become anyone’s favorite! Freiberg’s also offers a wide variety of vegetarian dishes including lentil soup, potato skins, or a vegetable plate.

Keith Yonker, owner/Certified Executive Chef, was born and raised in the Chicago "region". He had a passion for the culinary arts starting at a young age and his career has led him all over the U.S....working for a variety of restaurants and resorts. Keith has worked for Morton's in California, at Charlie's Crab in Palm Beach, Casa Restaurants in Fort Wayne, and Starwood Resorts in Cape Cod. In 2015, Keith moved to the Tri-Cities to oversee the seven cafes at Eastman as their Artisan Chef. He's always wanted to make his home in East Tennessee. One of his greatest culinary honors was when Keith was selected for the National Pizza Team (twice) and competed in Italy placing 8th in the world. ​ Keith is excited to introduce Chicago inspired Italian to Eastern Tennessee. Keith says his philosophy is simple. "We wish to provide you with the best in authentic Chicago style pizza and sandwiches, surround you with a place that makes you feel welcome, where you meet old friends for lunch and dinner, and make new ones.
