🚔 Two Arrested After Children Found Home Alone in Sullivan County
A Kingsport woman and an Elizabethton man were arrested Sunday after Sullivan County deputies responded to a report of four children left home alone. Deputies went to the 500 block of Bancroft Chapel Road just before 9 a.m. and spoke with the children, who said their mother had not been home or spoken with them since Friday. Deputies found unsafe and unsanitary conditions inside the home, and a dog also did not have adequate access to food or water. The Department of Children’s Services and Sullivan County Animal Control responded to assist.
Thea Chyanne Sorrell was charged with three counts of child abuse or neglect involving a child age 8 or younger, as well as misdemeanor cruelty to animals and child endangerment, and was booked into the Sullivan County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Deputies said they found suspected methamphetamine on the man who drove Sorrell home, and later recovered suspected heroin, about 306 grams of suspected methamphetamine, four loaded firearms — including one reported stolen from Kingsport — pills, suspected marijuana, suspected psychedelic mushrooms, drug paraphernalia and nearly $5,000 from his vehicle.

🔪 Johnson City Man Arrested in Connection with Kingsport Area Stabbing
A Johnson City man is in custody in connection with a stabbing on Holiday Hills Road in Kingsport. William James Berthiaume, 54, is charged with first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault. Investigators say witnesses helped identify Berthiaume as a suspect, leading to an arrest warrant and his arrest.
👧 Kingsport Mother Charged After Toddler Found Near Roadway
Sullivan County deputies responded to the 200 block of Samuel Street in Kingsport in reference to a female toddler found outside without clothes. When deputies arrived, the child was not there, but a neighbor’s surveillance footage revealed the child had run toward Bloomingdale Road. Another person called Sullivan County dispatch about the same child on Bloomingdale Road near the Pizza Plus, and deputies found the child and were told by witnesses that she was almost hit by a car. The child was taken to an area hospital.

The Kingsport Police Department is actively seeking two suspects in connection with an aggravated robbery. Details on the suspects and circumstances of the incident have been released by KPD. Residents with any information are encouraged to contact local authorities.
